Conferences and trips

Saturday was a rousing trip across Nebraska to get to Des Moines, we arrrived for the ACE/NETC conference. Here James and I are here for 3 days to learn about the latest and greatest in tech and communication for Extension. Here's to learning

Update on the state of things

(Note to self - pressing the return key after type a title will publish the post, regardless if there is any text in the post....)

Ah, the week of June is almost over, and projects are starting to getting into a grove. Well, more a fast paced run, but we'll work on it.

First up this week, was finishing the commercial for WY CES. It's more of a branding spot, than a specific call to action.

The spot is awaiting administrative viewing and approval before it can be sent to the station and posted...

This week also saw more work on the Practicum video, as well as the Straw bale house and Off the Grid living.

With the end of year purchasing run over, we were able to pic up a couple of items for the filming unit.

Namely, a Firestore unit to attach to the camera. This will give us the ability to record up to 240 minutes of 1080p footage on a single load.

As opposed to the current 34.

Crane work

So the last couple of weeks, James and I have been working on using the crane that we bought back in February. For those of you who do not know what a crane is used for, read here. Included are a couple of short clips that we recently shot. The first is from a empty lot that is being used for a straw bale house. The second is a promo shot we are working on. It shows a sign in front of the Union here on campus.

Video Update

Funny how keeping things updated and getting things done seem to compete for attention. As a late note, the 4-H Horse Safety Certification video is complete. DVDs are being given out to the state 4-H educators this week. The video can also be viewed here: http://4-h.uwyo.edu/horse_video.htm

This week I'm starting in off in Cody. I'm working with Cole Ehmke on what will eventually become a mentoring video for new extension folks. Tuesday we will be filming an interview with Rhonda Shipp.

Also this week, we will start work on a commercial for CES. It should be complete and ready to air in June.

Well, I think that's all the projects for this week. Should be good times - Derek

Animation time

I'm working on an intro animation for one of the group's PSA initative. It's been a bit since I've worked in Motion or After Effects. Stayed after hours to work on a concept that came today. Hopeful that at least one more will come tomorrow and I can send them off.

4H Horse principle ends

Finished up the last of principle production for the 4H horse certification video. We filmed the intro and outro with Gary and Allie in Casper. Allie also was the talent for the narration of the video. She did an amazing job pretty much sight reading the script. Post work starts up Friday or Monday. Got till April 1 to finish up.

Weather made for some exciting travels. Of all the days to travel, Tuesday ended up being just peachy. Snow, wind... typical Wyoming.

4-H Horse Certification video Day 1

Here are a couple of pics from Day 1. It took a bit in the early morning for everyone to get on the same page. All the equipment got it's time in the sun - well cold really. James and I got to a point where we were using common lingo and things took off from there. Look for a trailer soon -
